Arts, culture and heritage

Our team has expertise in measuring the impact of arts, culture and heritage programmes.

  • (Wales Arts International, 2018)

The key goal of this research project was the production of a report that measures the value and impact of Wales Arts International’s investment and activity in support of international working. Arad analysed all activities delivered, the impact that they have achieved and the extent to which they can demonstrate value for money. Arad also recommended how effective activity can be sustained, developed and improved in the future.

  • (Cadw, 2018)

This study aims to analyse the requirements and aspirations for Caerphilly Castle to develop into a world class heritage tourism attraction, with a view to inspire repeat visits and increase spend per head. The study also aims to set out a clear pathway to secure a step-change in the visitor offer through making product development recommendations that are practical, deliverable and sustainable with the aim of delivering commercial benefits whilst considering the sensitivities of the monument.

  • (Arts Council of Wales, 2015-16)

Our report assessed the value of Wales’ presence at the Venice Biennale of Art since 2009 and its impact on participating artists, curators, galleries and on both the visual arts sector in Wales and Wales’ wider international profile. The evaluation involved a review of literature relating to the project’s implementation and impact; interviews with artists, curators and galleries; and a survey of the wider visual arts sector in Wales.

  • (National Library of Wales and Archives Wales, 2014-16)

Arad undertook research to support the evaluation of Cynefin. Cynefin: Mapping Wales’ Sense of Place was a three-year project to digitise and web-mount the tithe maps of Wales and the associated tithe apportionments to create an online map and a linked searchable dataset. The project was run by a partnership led by the Archives and Records Council Wales (ARCW) and includes the National Library of Wales, People’s Collection Wales, archive offices throughout Wales as well as communities and individual volunteers.

  • (Wales Arts International / Literature Wales, 2015)

Arad undertook research aimed at understanding international working within the literature sector in Wales. The aims of the research were to maps current international activities, consult on the developmental needs of the literature sector and to examine existing partnerships and collaborative work between key literature organisations in Wales. The research involved a survey of the literature sector in Wales, desk research as a mapping exercise and interview with key stakeholders within the literature sector in Wales.
