    Arad Research and Bangor University undertook a study into the opportunities available to use Welsh within communities in Wales. In addition, the research involved assessing the influence of Welsh Government strategies to support the social use of the Welsh language and assessing the factors that influence the use of the Welsh language by the public. The research involved conducting a series of focus groups with varied members of the community across Wales to gather their views, experiences and opinions.

    Arad Research and Cardiff University undertook a piece of research into the conditions which influence the transmission and use of the Welsh language within families. The purpose of the work was to study the factors influencing whether or not parents transmit the language to their children and in what circumstances. Arad undertook a series of 60 qualitative, in-depth interviews with families across Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly, Gwynedd and Anglesey, gathering data on their history with the language and the way in which it is currently used within the family.

    Arad undertook a review of management arrangements for Welsh-language skills in the workforce across the 22 local authorities and 8 health boards and trusts in Wales. The review covered strategic management arrangements, workforce planning and monitoring, recruitment and skills development (including training). Arad undertook consultations with key members of staff at operational and senior strategic level within each authority.
